Welcome to the hottest agency in the NW!
AIA's Publicity Party a Night to Remember
On May 23rd, 2011 over two hundred actors, producers, directors, and
musicians helped to celebrate the family that is AIA. Lana Veenker, Eryn
Goodman, and Ranielle Grey were there from Lana Veenker Casting. Simon
Max
Hill and Crystal were there from Simon Max Hill Casting. And Kevin Cooke
and
Cal Humphries from Comcast Spotlight were there just to name a few. We
projected AIA talent photos on a large screen throughout the evening.
A real
multi-media event!
What happened at the party?
Damon tried his best to meet and greet everyone as they came in. Don
Bellairs and "Ear Relevant" kicked the night off with awesome
music
featuring his guitar and his partner's bongos. Folks sighed in, got there
ID
bracelets, and then every current AIA actor there was given a "Marti-Gras"
type necklace. Our way of letting all the folks know who the AIA talent
were. AIA talent dropped off their paperwork and headed for the vending
tables which included:
Frank DiMarco Photography, Misty Bay Photography, Barbara Kite acting
coach,
Patty Stark/ADVO care, the OMPA, NW Media Inc. printers, and an AIA table.
Then we had the one and only Ron Osborne doing comedy and being the MC
for
the evening. Next up the "Greathouse of Music" performed two
wonderful song's (One
written by Mark I believe) Ear Relevant played a bit more and then Ron
introduced Natasha DuVall's teen hip hop group called "Brazen".
These girls brought the house down; they
really, really entertained!
Next Ron introduced me (Damon) and I talked about family. AIA's family,
my
own family, and the family that has accepted Damon for 13 years now in
this
industry.
I gave special recognition to Patty Stark who has meant so much to both
AIA
and my immediate family (Who I introduced at the party). Dubbed the "Star"
of the party, I dressed Patty up in a funky hat, a boa, superstar
sunglasses, and a trophy. Patty then kicked off the dancing by leading
the
"Conga Line" around the dance floor. There was a bit more dancing
and
networking and then the raffle.
Over $500 in free raffle prizes were given. We had over two dozen prizes
to
give a way (Thanks to Kara Gajowsky, Magda Valdi, Gordon Boudreau, The
Greathouse's, Marvella McPartland, Judy Pearson, the OMPA, Susan Jones,
Cyndi Rhoads, and...? (Who did I forget here?)
Damon's Tuesday on-camera acting students performed scenes from Kramer
vs.
Kramer throughout the evening. Derald and Rick finished up with a wonderful
scene from "Tootsie" as well.
With the fantastic help from our volunteers, we were wrapped by 10:45pm.
All in all this publicity party was a success before it even
started.
1. AIA and this party were the talk of the town for the past month. The
incredible evening we all had will be talked about for a month or so to
come. We'll get over two months of invaluable promotion for AIA and our
talent through this event.
2. This event bought us (AIA and talent) closer together. "We ARE
family!"
3. New AIA paperwork was received in an efficient and secure way.
4. Damon got a chance to recognize Patty Stark who has done so much for
Damon and AIA talent.
5. AIA was seen, heard, and appreciated by our industry.
6. Because of this event, many of you were prompted to get Damon your
updated photos, resumes, and links for the web site and agency submissions
in general.
I want to thank the volunteers that helped make this party happen.

AIA's Greg Nibler...
just signed on to do an online television show with the Trailblazers,
for
the their new site, trailblazers.tv! He will host it, along with
Funemployment Radio co-host, Sarah X Dylan. It's a live, interactive show
on their website that allows viewers to automatically text and give
feedback. Starting off with a weekly show, to air on Friday
afternoon/evening. First one is on Friday at 4pm and the Blazers are still
working on what it will be called.
The show will be a different take than their current shows, in that it
will
not revolve entirely around sports. It will incorporate Portland
news/activities along with the Blazers and other sports news. In addition,
at some point, we will be taking select Blazers out around the city to
participate in various Portland activities.
